The League Season 1

1. League Format

  • Season 1 will run for 8 weeks.

  • Each player will play one match per week against a scheduled opponent.

  • Matches can be played at official club events or coordinated privately between players (either in person or virtually).

  • Match scores will be reported back to the League Director (Brandon) at the end of each week.

  • The league will use a round robin format

    • Not every player will face every other player — the schedule is designed for balance

  • Week 1 will begin October 13th (First week matchups will be announced October 12th)

  • All league participants will receive free entry to the Playoff Event for the Season Finals (date/venue TBA).

2. Match Rules

  • Matches will be played to 7 points (use 5 if you want quicker games).

  • The doubling cube is in play.

  • Legal moves only (dice must be rolled on the board, both dice must land flat).

  • Crawford rule applies in matches where relevant.

3. Scoring

  • Win = 1 point, Loss = 0 points.

  • Standings will be based on total wins each week.

  • Tiebreakers (in order):

    1. Head-to-head record (if tied players played each other)

    2. Points differential (cumulative score)

    3. One-game playoff

4. Tournament Playoffs

  • At the end of the season, the top 8 players advance to a single-elimination playoff bracket

  • All league participants will receive free entry to the Playoff Event for the Season Finals (date/venue TBA).

  • Quarterfinals: best to 7 points

  • Semifinals: best to 7 points

  • Final: best to 9 points

  • Winner will be crowned Season 1 Champion 🏆

5. Buy In & Prize Pool

  • Each player must pay a buy-in of $65

  • 50% of all buy-in revenue will be distributed to the winners as follows:

    • Champion: 65% of prize pool + WeHo Backgammon Champion Hat

    • Runner-Up: 25% of prize pool

    • Third Place: 10% of prize pool

  • The remaining 50% of buy-in revenue supports club operations, event costs, and future prizes.

6. Conduct

  • Good sportsmanship is expected at all times.

  • Disputes will be resolved by the League Director (Brandon).

  • Players who forfeit more than 2 matches may be removed from standings.
